Covid-19: Nnewi Community Distributes Food Items To Residents (Photos)

To cushion the effects of coronavirus lockdown, Egbu Umuenem, Otolo Nnewi, in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, have shared food items to members of the community.

 

Some of the food items worth millions of Naira were distributed to both indigenes and non-indigenes living in the community.

Speaking to Anaedoonline.com, on Saturday, 2nd May, 2020, during the second phase of the distribution of the food items, President-General of Egbu Umuenem Community, Arc. Paul Ileka (Solid Base) said that the Community was able to share the food items through the generosity of some of the members of the community.

According to him, the Community shared 200 bags of 10kg rice, 200 cartons of noodles, 220 tubers of yam, 220 tin of tomatoes, 250 tin of geisha.

He went further to reveal that the community had earlier shared some set of food items the previous weekend, the food items which includes; 120 bags of 25kg rice, 200 cartons of noodles, 220 tubers of yam, 220 tin of tomatoes, were also distributed Community.

Speaking further, Arc. Paul Ileka said that the distribution of the palliative was made possible after he rallied privileged individuals from the Community to donate food items to indigent members of their community who have been finding it difficult to feed since the lockdown.

He noted that their response which was massive ensured that over Five Hundred (500) families living in the Community smiled home with different foods items.

He said the distribution of the food items was targeted at the most vulnerable, who are most affected during the COVID-19 lockdown in the state.

He urged other privileged individuals in the community to help in ensuring the hardship being experienced by people is brought to a minimum.
