Nnewi: Why We Are Constructing A Road In Uruagu – Anglican Bishop

The Anglican Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Chukwuka Obi, has given reasons why the Diocese is constructing an access road in Uruagu Nnewi, Anambra State.

Speaking to Anaedoonline.com, the Bishop Ndubuisi revealed that the construction of the road became necessary after the Diocese considered the stress commuters and pedestrians face in accessing the Cathedral Church of St. Mary’s Road, that leads to Akaboezem Community and other communities around the Cathedral.

According to him, due to lack of access road in the area, road users were using part of the church premises to get to their various destinations, which most times is under lock and key, because the usage of the was disrupting services in the Cathedral Church.

He said that having been a victim of the closer of the road during services in the Cathedral or in the night, he found it was needful that an access road should be built for roads users.

He explained that the Diocese decided to divert the road by constructing an access road that will connect to Nkwo-Nkwo road, Nnewi.

Speaking further, he said that for the Diocese to construct the road, it needed to relocate some families that sold their land to the church to enable the construction of the road.

He revealed that the Diocese also pulled down a three-story building inside the church premises to improve the spacing the road.

He said that the Diocese has begun the construction with a standard drainage system, promising that the road which will gulp millions of Naira will be of the best quality.

He promised that after construction, the road will ease the road users a lot of stress and difficultly in going to their destinations.

The road project is about 130M long and 7.5M wide.
