Governor Obiano Appoint Melie Onyejepu as General Manager Public Procurement Bureau

The Executive Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Chief Dr. Willie Obiano, has appointed his Special Adviser on Budget and Implementation, Hon. Sir Ogbuefi Melie Onyejepu as the General Manager Anambra State Public Procurement Bureau.

Anambra State Public Procurement Bureau which was inaugurated today, Friday, 29th May, 2020, at Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

The board has Hon. Melie Onyejepu as Chairman, with Prof. Kate Omenugha, Mr Greg Obi, Mr Nnamdi Onukwuba, Dr Christian Madubuko, Barr. Pat Igwebuike, Mr Ernest Adinweruka, Mr Afam Mbanefo, Mr Willie Nwokoye, Barr. Chukwka Ezewuzie, Arch. Okey Ezeobi, Mr Chris Iteke, Mr. Simon Attah and Mr Leo Ogbuefi as board members.

The has the responsibility of formulation of general policies and guidelines relating to public sector procurement for the approval of the council, monitoring of prices of tendered items, among others.

While inaugurating the board, Governor Obiano said that notwithstanding the existence of a due process board chaired by Mr Afam Mbanefo, it will continue its operations within the framework of the newly inaugurated Bureau.

Thanking the Governor on behalf of the board, Hon. Melie Onyejepu said that the board will faithfully discharge their duties, promising not to disappoint the confidence the Governor reposed on them.

In another story, Special Adviser to the Governor of Anambra State on Budget Monitoring and Efficiency, Hon. Sir Ogbuefi Melie Onyejepu, has assured of the state government’s commitment towards the speedy completion of Okpunoeze/Umeojiligwe of Uruagu Nnewi road.

Hon. Melie Onyejepu, said this during the weekend while addressing the leadership of Uruagu Nnewi
Community after an inspection tour of the ongoing reconstruction of the drainage channel of the road.

The Governor’s aide who expressed the determination of the Governor Obiano-led administration to ensure that the roads are in good shape noted that the contractor has since been mobilized back to the site.

According to Hon. Melie Onyejepu, he said that the road was delayed due to the rain, the redesigning of the drainage channel and the increasing of the bearing strength on the road pavement.
