Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano has approved the gradual reopening of schools in the state months after forced closures as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Obiano gave the approval in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic Education, Mr. Nwankwo Nwabueze. Nwabueze said the state government had approved and released a timetable for the completion of the 2019/2020 Academic session, as well as the schedule for the State examinations.

 

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, OYC, an Igbo socio-cultural organization, has alleged of ongoing efforts by fifth columnists and some Igbo politicians working with external forces to thwart Igbo ambition to occupy the nation’s number one seat in 2023. The Igbo group disclosed that the plan to scuttle the 2023 presidency includes instigating mass protests by Biafra agitators across state capital cities in South East, as well as to provide logistics for increased Biafra Agitations programmes in the southeast to justify the fear amongst prominent Nigerians especially the North that 2023 Igbo presidency will usher in Referendum and Biafra Independence.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has told President Muhammadu Buhari’s government to immediately reverse the increment in pump price of petrol. The increment was announced by Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC), a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, on Wednesday. The new price has since stirred reactions from Nigerians and prominent individuals on social media.

 

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, in Anambra is getting worried over recklessness of driver which often result to road crashes. In his report about road crashes, spokesman of the Command, RC Kamal Musa, said, ‘A serious Road Traffic Crash occurred as a result of loss of control due to excessive speeding involving a Toyota Haice bus driven by one Mr Ifeanyi Udeh, with registration number UKP 742 ZU recorded today at 1730hrs, 1st September 2020, near Awkuzu junction along Onitsha- Awka express way.”
