18-Year-Old Graduate Who Built a Lamborghini-like Car Gets Award

A boy identified as Kelvin Odartey, a graduate of Cosmos International School who took part in the just concluded Basic Education Certificate Examination in Ghana has been presented with the Young Promising Role Model Star award.

The 18-year-old Ghanaian JHS graduate started gaining popularity about a month ago after the video of the Lamborghini-like car he designed and made using scraps (recycled metallic waste) stormed the internet. He had drawn the attention of many when he drove the self-made car to the examination centre to write his final paper.
Attracted and impressed with the creative act of the youngster, the CEO of Kantanka automobiles, Safo Kwadwo Jnr promised to offer Kelvin a scholarship award.

Odartey however, was awarded the ‘Young Promising Role Model Star’ at the Young Professionals Role Model (YPRM) award.

Celebritiesbuzzgh reports that award presentation was done during the 11th MTN Pulse Transform Summit at the Accra International Conference Centre on Wednesday, November 4.

Excited with the development, Odartey while giving his award plaque and citation on Instagram wrote; “I want to say a very big thk u to the organizers of YPYC for recognising my good works and for awarding me. I am extremely honored to be receiving such an important award (Young Promising Role Model star). I am earnestly grateful for the recognition of my work, I hope and pray for your support so that i can execute de remaining project ahead and bring it to a reality, thk u all for the support and God bless us.@nana_adjoanhyira @dentaa_show @Mr Andy Osei Okrah.”

In an interview with UTV, Odartey said that he discovered his ability when he was younger and he started building small cars but later decided to build a bigger car and he had help from seven friends who supported him with funds to build the car. He also said he will train some of his friends in order to also help them assemble their own cars.
