The Lagos State government has refused to release corpses of suspected #EndSARS protesters despite that the Chief Coroner, Mrs. Mojisola Dada, made a public announcement, directed relatives who had lost loved ones to identify and claim their bodies. According to the management of Mainland Hospital, Lagos, says it has received a directive from the state Ministry of Health not to release corpses of suspected #ENDSARS protesters.

 

The Commander of the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Brig. Gen. Ahmed Taiwo, has disclosed the roles played by Lt.- Col. S.O. Bello and Brig.-Gen. F.O. Omata during the shooting at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos State. Following the #EndSARS protest, soldiers had reportedly shot and killed peaceful protesters at Lekki toll gate on October 20, 2020. However, Taiwo said Bello who was the Commander on ground had given the order for the soldiers to shoot in the air.

The kidnapped chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Philip Shekwo, has been found dead. A source close to the family confirmed this to newsmen on Sunday afternoon. A leader of the APC in Nasarawa, who asked not to be named, also confirmed the death. The APC was yet to officially react to the kidnap at the time of this report.

 

Human Rights group, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) say it has written an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari asking him to cut the cost of governance and implement bold transparency and accountability measures in response to Nigeria’s second recession in five years. This was disclosed in a statement signed on Sunday by SERAP deputy director Kolawole Oluwadare.

 

Despite the caution against distracting President Muhammadu Buhari, administration, two of his ministers are neck-deep in furthering their aspiration to occupy the Presidential Villa come 2023. The same ministers who were implicated in the plot which led to the removal of the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, are battling for the soul of the party.

The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, has sacked more of his appointees to accommodate new party supporters. This came barely 48 hours after his defection to the All Progressives Congress. Umahi equally dissolved all boards and commissions except few that are tenured by law. Recall that the governor had sacked all political appointees; all coordinators, Senior Technical Assistants, STAs, Technical Assistants, TAs among others from Ohaukwu LGA.

 

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has said Tottenham Hotspur are the biggest Premier League title contenders. However, Guardiola also believes this may be the most open title race since he arrived in England. City lost 2-0 to Jose Mourinho’s men on Saturday, a result which sees them sit 11th in the table, eight points behind leaders Spurs, having played one less game. There have been reports that Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) met with the former president, Goodluck Jonathan, in Abuja. The purpose of that meeting was apparently to sound out Jonathan ahead of the 2023 general elections. Jonathan was elected president in 2011 and lost to incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015. However, there is talk that he is still qualified to run having only spent one term of four years in office.
