The Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Police has declared that they are on top of the case of a Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Reporter, Chidiebere Onyia, who was kidnapped in Port Harcourt Tuesday night. The victim who only just resumed from a-four month maternity leave was reportedly abducted by four men in Woji town, a predominantly residential area of Obio Akpor Local Government Area (LGA) at about 8 pm.

 

One hundred and ten ex-corps members who distinguished themselves during the service year will receive national honours, the National Youth Service Corps, has said. The NYSC award will be conferred on the ex – corps members by President Muhammadu Buhari at the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, from the president’s office.

A police inspector attached to the Owerri Area command police headquarters, simply identified as Umoh, has shot and killed himself. The incident occurred on Wednesday at the heart of the state capital, Owerri. A source at the Area Command headquarters told The Nation the officer shot himself after locking himself up in one of the rooms in the quarters.

 

No fewer than 400 residents on Foreshore Road, Lekki, Lagos State, have been displaced after men of the Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Sanitation (Enforcement) Unit demolished and burnt their houses on Wednesday. Anaedoonline.ng learnt that the team also included policemen from the Maroko division. A member of the community, who did not want to be identified, said residents were only given 24 hours to remove their property.

 

INEC declared in Abuja on Wednesday that management of large crowds at many polling units remained a challenge at elections. Its Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, made the declaration at INEC’s first quarter meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) for this year.
