Anambra CHAPOL Commandant Celebrates Birthday With Students, Donates Books

Anambra State Commandant, Chaplain Corps Policing Explorers (CHAPOL) Mr. Joseph Ekwunife, today March 22 2021 marked his birthday with the students of St Kizito Girls Secondary School, Umudioka in Dunukofia LGA of Anambra state

Commandant Ekwunife spoke to the students and disclosed that he chose to celebrate his birthday with them in other to create, in them, a sense of belonging.

Ekwunife who is not new to the students revealed that he was touched to choose the school because of the good impression he saw when he first visited. “Your faces manipulated me towards making a choice,” he confessed.

“I could have celebrated my birthday in the hotel with my friends and partners, or with just my family members,” he added, “but I did not.”

‘This is the very first time I am celebrating with students and it will now be an annual event because every year, I will be celebrating with students. It is a thing of honour to me.”

Adding to the reason for the choice, Ekwunife said, “The future belongs to the youth and it is high time we began to work the talk. Enough of the preaching, it is time to make an impact and awake the consciousness in the youths. It is time to lead by example.”

The Anambra CHAPOL Commandant concluded his speech by donating hundred copies of a book titled “Out of the Crowd” to the students.

He thanked the management of St Kizito Girls Secondary School, Umudioka for giving him the opportunity to celebrate with students.

Speaking with Anaedoonline.ng in an interview, Ekwunife thanked God for the grace to mark the anniversary of his birth.

Mr. Ekwunife revealed that CHAPOL is a non-governmental organization working in partnership with the Anambra State Ministry of Education in curbing all forms of immoral behaviors like cultism, exam malpractices, drug abuse, etc., in secondary schools.

In his words, St Kizito Girls Secondary School, “Umudioka is amongst the mission secondary schools and I decided to celebrate my birthday with them because we kept telling them that one day they will be among the top and influential people in the society

“But if we don’t begin to paint the picture, it will look as if it’s a story. We must have to come down to their level and work the talk. Children are very smart. They learn in two ways, which is by what they see and hear. Am here to paint the picture and let them know that what we are telling them is visible and possible and a reality.”

The principal of the school, Mrs. Theresa Obiudu, in an Interview with Anaedoonline.ng prayed God to bless, lift and protect the celebrant in all his endeavors.

Speaking on the history of the school, the principal said the school was established in 1967 and was returned to the church by the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi.
