Mbaka: Buhari Asks Embattled Priest, Others To Help Fight Boko Haram

Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has asked religious leaders of all faiths like Father Ejike Mbaka, David Oyedepo amongst others to unite and support the fight against terrorism.

Buhari made the call in a statement titled ‘President Buhari urges spiritual leaders to mobilise people of all faiths to fight crimes.’

According to his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President made this call while speaking on the telephone with the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar lll.

The President called on religious leaders to help fight against kidnapping, banditry, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the statement, the Sultan was said to have called to celebrate with the President on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and the observance of the Eid-el-Fitr.

The statement read in part, “The President called for continuous dialogue between the leaders of the two major faiths for peace and stability to reign in the country.

“President Buhari commended the Sultan for his effective leadership of the Muslim Ummah and credited him with the unity of the community sustained under his watch.”

According to the statement, the Sultan reaffirmed his commitment to the continued existence of one Nigeria.

He said the Sultanate would continue to play its part in the ongoing effort to tackle the country’s challenges.
