Sharia Court: 34 Persons Get Appointment As Judges In Kano

Justice Nura Sagir, The Chief Judge of Kano State, has approved the appointment of 34 additional judges for Sharia courts in the state.

The spokesperson for the Kano State Judiciary, Mr. Baba Jibo-Ibrahim confirmed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Kano on Thursday.

The statement noted that the newly-appointed judges were successful in the aptitude test and interview conducted for them by the Judicial Service Commission.

All the newly appointed Sharia Court judges will be sworn in on June 25, at the conference room of the High Court of Justice, Kano by 10.00 am, Naija News gathered.

Meanwhile, the Presidency has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari is not behind plans to amend the Nigerian Press Council (NPC) act.

Anaedoonline.ng gathered that this was stated by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.

The bill, which seeks to repeal and re-enact the NPC act, was considered at a public hearing organized by the house of representatives committee on information, national orientation, ethics, and values.
