Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, The pan Igbo socio-cultural organization, has appealed to governors from the southeast region to use the influence of their relationship with the federal government to secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu.

The group said the move will be beneficial to the entire region and urged the governors and other leaders to look beyond the immediate situation and forgive Kanu for his excesses.

It added that another round of violence may engulf the region if supporters of the arrested IPOB leader decide to take to the streets in protest, urging the leaders to do something before such happens.

The leader of the group, Chidi Ibeh noted in a statement that “southeast Governors and Igbo elders should consider the bigger picture of the consequences of Nnamdi Kanu’s detention.

They must forgive his excesses. This is not the time for blame, accusations, and counter-accusations. Ohanaeze Ndigbo appeals to southeast Governors to explore the harmonious relationships between them and President Buhari to secure a soft landing for the detained IPOB leader for the sustainability of the peaceful atmosphere that just returned to the zone.
