Following the Federal Government’s failure to execute past agreements, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, or ASUU, has launched a statewide strike after extensive discussion.

The strike was announced by ASUU President Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke during a news conference on Monday.

The strike would be “extensive and thorough,” according to ASUU National President.

He did say, though, that the strike would continue four weeks to give the Federal Government time to make reforms.

If the union’s demands are not addressed within a month, the president of ASUU has threatened to go on indefinite strike.

Recall that ASUU had last week, sensitised and mobilised lecturers and students across all universities on the reason the union is deciding to down tools.
