Senator Ike Ekweremadu, the former Deputy Senate President, has stated that no amount of media campaigning will convince him to abandon his gubernatorial ambitions.

This is despite criticism from a number of stakeholders and organisations in the state pressing him to adhere to a current zoning agreement.

However, Ekweremadu, who has stated that he is unaware of any such deal, has stated that he will continue in the race.

The Federal lawmaker said he will not be deterred by what he called “a cornucopia of sponsored falsehoods, forgeries, intimidation, and press comments against” his desire, speaking via the Director-General of his campaign group, Mr. Ogbonna Asogwa.

“This would neither divert nor deter the Senator from seeking the governorship of Enugu State in the general elections of 2023,” he said.

“The desperation of some groups to prevent His Excellency, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, PhD, CFR, from contesting the 2023 Enugu State gubernatorial election,” he stated, “but with ultimate faith in God.”

“We firmly assert, for the avoidance of doubt, that it is not the job of the caucus under the PDP Constitution to zone elected posts,” he added, rejecting the zoning paper released to the public earlier this week.

Enugu 2023: Ekweremadu Declares Governorship Ambition

“Senator Ike Ekweremadu will not be deterred in his bid to fashion out a new Enugu State that will provide water, employment, security for all, pay pensions and gratuities, equitably distribute democracy dividends and opportunities, ensure massive road and infrastructural development, statewide electricity coverage, youth and women empowerment, and engender good governance, including non-interference with local government funds,” he assures the people of Enugu State.

“We are pleased that our newly disclosed roadmap to a new Enugu has struck a chord with the people.
For the time being, it is all that matters,” the campaign organization concluded.
