The Peter Obi Support Network (POSN) has responded to discussions between Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) standard bearer for the 2023 presidential election, and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strikers.

Such meetings, according to the campaign group, were unnecessary and that the APC presidential candidate should have met with the obstructionist President Muhammadu Buhari to request that he release cash for ASUU rather than supporting APC campaigns.

The ASUU strike was cited as one of the Buhari administration’s glaring failings in a statement released to journalists on Thursday by Mr. Adegbite Adekunle, POSN’s Deputy Director of Communications.

The statement urged the striking lecturers not to allow itself to be used as political mercenaries, insisting that what Tinubu was doing was a campaign stunt.

The statement read:. “Nigerian universities have been on lockdown for more than two years since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Nigerians are afraid that their students will continue the stay-at-home pandemic unless the ruling party is kicked out of government.”
