The three-year-old child of Chinelo Udogu was killed by being flogged.
Sources claim that Udogu committed the act out of rage and that after learning the baby had passed away, she put her in a bag and dropped her in a bush.
Online videos depict the woman being caught by several locals in Amikwo, Anambra State, after she abandoned the child in a nearby bush.
The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the event and reported that the offender has been taken into custody.
Toochukwu Ikenga, a Deputy Superintendent of Police and the command’s police public relations officer, who confirmed the occurrence, issued a warning against getting angry.
He said: “On the incident about a woman, Chinelo Udogu, who allegedly flogged a three-year-old child to death and dumped her body in a bush at Amikwo, Awka, she has been arrested and the victim’s body recovered.
“The lesson for us to learn is that we should be cautious when angry and desist from going physical when correcting our children.
“Meanwhile the case has been transferred to state CID for a discretion investigations Further development shall be communicated.”
