Despite Nyesom Wike of Rivers State endorsing Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State for the 2023 elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that it will continue to pursue reconciliation with him and his group.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the Rivers governor supported the reelection of his Lagos counterpart against Olajide Adediran, a.k.a. Jandor, the PDP’s nominee for governor.

Wike’s support for Sanwo-Olu comes amid rumors that Adediran is in the group of PDP officials who are backing Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate, and Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairman.

Debo Ologunagba, the party’s national publicity secretary, claimed in a statement to journalists about the upcoming election campaigns that the party has a strong framework for dealing with issues.

He stated that the utterances of the governor would be subjected to the processes of the party.

“The party will go through that process, but the ultimate goal is to reconcile every member because of the higher calling to rescue this country,” he said.

Reconciliation, in Debo’s words, “was not a 100-meter race, and 24 hours in politics are like a lifetime,” adding that the effort between party leaders and Wike’s side was still ongoing.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Wike’s supporters include the governors of Oyo State Seyi Makinde, Benue State Samuel Ortom, Abia State Okezie Ikpeazu, and Enugu State Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, among many others.
