Sebastien Haller, a striker for Borussia Dortmund who received a testicular cancer diagnosis in July, said on Thursday that he will have surgery.
“As was anticipated from the start, various possibilities were taken into account after the chemo. I declare that the battle is not over for me,” the Ivory Coast striker, 28, wrote in a French tweet.
“I will need to have surgery to finally get rid of this tumour that keeps me off the pitch,” the patient said.
Haller, who was born in France, transferred from Ajax to Borussia Dortmund in July to help fill the void left by Erling Haaland’s move to Manchester City.

A few days after signing Haller felt pain and club doctors made the diagnosis.
“We wish you lots of strength, Seb! Stay strong!,” Borussia Dortmund reacted to Haller’s tweet. Ajax and another former club West Ham, also tweeted their support.
