Gunmen Attack Imo Police Station And kills An Officer

On Friday night, gunmen assaulted the Oguta police station in Imo State’s Oguta Local Government Area.
Our correspondent learned that the shooters who struck in the middle of the night were repulsed by officers on duty.

A police mobile officer was killed in the hours-long gunfight, while some of the hoodlums escaped with gunshot wounds.

According to sources, when the attackers arrived, they tossed explosives at the police station and opened fire on the officers on duty.
“Gunmen stormed Oguta 1 police division and killed one visiting mobile police officer,” a source who did not want to be identified claimed.

“They threw explosives on the police station but they were engaged. They ran away with gunshot injuries with a minimal damage on the police facility.”

When contacted, the spokesperson for the police in the state, Henry Okoye, said that the attackers were repelled.
This came less than four days after Agwa and Umuaka police divisional headquarters were invaded with some of the non-state actors neutralised, exhibits recovered and policemen sustaining injuries.
