Ebonyi: Gov Umahi Declares Public Holidays For PVC Collection

In preparation for the upcoming 2023 general elections, Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi has declared public holidays for state employees and students to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

The state government proclaimed a holiday from work on Thursday, January 26th and Friday, January 27th, in a statement signed and published through the State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barrister Uchenna Orji.

According to the announcement, the short break will allow government officials and eligible elementary, secondary, and higher education students who have not to receive their PVCs to do so.

Governor Umahi stated that the delay was necessary due to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) deadline for collecting PVCs across the country.

The statement read: “In consideration of the INEC’s deadline for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) nationwide, the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Engr Chief David Nweze Umahi FNSE FNATE CON GGCEHF, has declared a two (2)-day Public Holiday from Thursday 26th to Friday 27th January 2023 for all Civil and Public servants, all primary and secondary schools.

“This is to enable the good people of Ebonyi State who are yet to collect their PVCs to proceed to their respective Local Government INEC PVC Collection Centres to collect their PVCs bearing in mind that the last day for PVC collection is on Sunday,29th January 2023.

“Please always accept the assurances of the esteemed regards and best wishes of His Excellency, the Governor.”
