A mother with mental illness put her kid into a pit latrine, which the Kano Fire Service officers managed to rescue.
Shortly after her mentally unstable mother, Hauwa Muhammed, put the newborn baby girl into a pit toilet, she was discovered alive.
“On Wednesday, February 15, 2023, the state fire service received an emergency call at about 10:49 am from one of our staff, Ibrahim Umar Muhammad, reporting an incident that happened at Sabon Titi Gidan Kankara Kano Municipal,” said Saminu Abduallahi, a spokesman for the fire department, in confirming the incident.

”The fire service men mobilized and arrived the scene at about 10:54 am and discovered that a 25-year-old, mother, identified as Huawa Muhamed, who is mentally deranged suddenly dumped her newborn baby into a pit toilet.
“However, our firemen on arrival at the scene swung into action and successfully rescued the baby alive and subsequently handed her over to her grandfather, Abubakar Umar Usman of Sabon Titi quarters.”
Abdullahi, however, said an investigation into the incident had commenced.
