Canadian Visa Fraudster Was Apprehended In Abuja

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Friday arrested a suspected visa fraudster, Enock Ogungbamigbe.

According to City Round, the suspect specialized in defrauding Nigerians desperate to migrate to Canada to work or further their education by using forged visas and job offers.

The 32-year-old, who owns a garden in Mpape, an Abuja suburb, was apprehended by anti-graft operatives at the Transcorp Hotel in Abuja after responding to an appointment to obtain a visa for an applicant intending to migrate to Canada. He had no idea it was bait.

Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC’s Director of Media and Publicity, revealed this in a statement obtained by our correspondent on Friday.

He noted that Ogungbamigbe’s arrest followed a petition by a victim who lost N5m to the suspect as processing fees for visa to Canada.

Uwujaren said, “The suspect had also promised the victim a job upon arrival in Canada. But he only delivered fake visas to his victims and all efforts to recover the money were futile. The suspect will be charged as soon as investigation is concluded.”
