UPDATE: Festus Keyamo Reacts As Labour Party Factions Clash In Abuja

Festus Keyamo, the state minister for labor and employment, has made fun of the Labour Party (LP) over the conflict between the two leadership groups.

Recall that on Wednesday, after party factions attempted to seize control of the National Secretariat located in Utako, Abuja, there were frantic scenes between Labour Party leaders in Abuja.

News organizations are aware that there are currently two factions inside the party. The National Chairman Julius Abure is in charge of one group, and Lamidi Apapa, the acting National Chairman, is in charge of the other.

As the party moves to screen candidates for the governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi, supporters of the two factions are staking claims to the party’s leadership. Yesterday, their dispute reached the party’s headquarters.

According to reports, it required the involvement of security personnel, including private security guards tasked with securing the party’s headquarters building, to stop a verbal altercation between the party’s leaders and their supporters from turning into a free-for-all.

The National Working Committee (NWC) members and supporters of Abure reportedly showed up at the Secretariat for a meeting and potential screening of candidates for governor of Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi.

Apapa reportedly arrived for the same workout with his supporters in tow just as they were getting started.

He wrote: “Behold the ‘new breeds’ that want to change Nigeria!”
