According to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) camp of Atiku Abubakar, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu shouldn’t have been permitted to run in the recently concluded 2023 presidential election since he supposedly holds two citizenships.

According to news sources, Tinubu, who ran for president in 2023 under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is once again embroiled in a dual citizenship-related scandal.

According to rumors, Tinubu had a passport from Guinea, which many people believed disqualified the former governor of Lagos State from running in the 2023 presidential election.

Atiku’s spokesperson, Daniel Bwala, responded to the matter by speculating as to why Tinubu would purportedly hold two citizenships and run for president.

Given that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has already pronounced the APC candidate the victor of the 2023 election, he questioned what the implications of possessing dual citizenship are.

Bwala chimed in with the argument that Section 137 of the Constitution bars Tinubu from the president because of his dual citizenship.

“If you are running for the office of the president, but you have acquired a passport of another country, meaning you have dual citizenship; and in your INEC form you ticked No for having another passport other than a Nigerian passport, what is the implication? Hmmm.

“Someone was trying to give an excuse for dual citizenship and said, “but the passport has expired.” Funny. Does the expiration of your passport take away your citizenship status?” Bwala twitted on Monday.
