Senator Andy Uba, a former senator who once represented the Anambra South Senatorial zone and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor of Anambra State, has denied rumors that he was detained in connection with a fictitious N50 million fraud case.

The former lawmaker revealed this in a statement released on Monday by his political ally, Umar Faringado Kazaure, according to news sources.

The author of the false report, Andy Uba, was told to stop or face legal action.

He said: “I wasn’t arrested and I don’t have any case of N50m to answer anywhere.

“I don’t know why they concocted the fake news but those responsible and the rumour mongers should desist from tarnishing my image or they will face litigation.

“It’s unfortunate that politics in Nigeria has gotten to this level but I won’t succumb to cheap blackmail. Certainly no.”

Remember that Uba was purportedly detained by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) monitoring Unit on Wednesday, April 26; however, the police apparently withheld the precise cause for his detention.

Former Olusegun Obasanjo senior special assistant Uba was recently involved in a N50 million debt dispute where he was accused of owing prominent businessman Arthur Eze money and when he refused to pay back, some of his cars were seized.
