Two suspects who are allegedly involved to the attack on US Consulate staff members and their police escorts in the state have been detained, according to the Anambra State Police Command.
During a press conference on Thursday, the state’s commissioner of police, Echeng Echeng, acknowledged the development.
The suspects were captured, according to the Commissioner of Police, during a joint operation carried out by tactical police units, Nigerian Army soldiers, and Nigerian Navy personnel.

In the Ogbaru Local Government Area’s Ugwuaneocha community, a camp was stormed by security personnel.
However, when they got there, they discovered that the camp had been abandoned and that the alleged Eastern Security Network attackers and Indigenous People of Biafra had escaped.
In his description of the attack, Commissioner Echeng said that four police officers and five US embassy employees were all participating.
Inspectors Bukar Adams, Friday Morgan, Adam Andrew, and Emmanuel Lupata were the police officers he named.

The Commissioner announced that two people of interest had been detained and were helping investigators with their inquiries into the incident, which claimed seven lives.
The criminal camp that was uncovered in the Ugwuaneocha neighborhood was also destroyed by the joint security squad.
While efforts to find and save the two missing officials being ramped up, the bodies of the deceased have been retrieved and placed in a morgue.
The public was requested by Commissioner Echeng to come forward with any information regarding the names and whereabouts of the offenders.
The police command is dedicated to bringing the offenders to justice and protecting the safety of locals and visitors, along with other security organizations and the Anambra State government.

The state governor’s press secretary, Christian Aburime, sent condolences to the surviving family members and friends in response to the catastrophe.
He promised the populace that the government will uphold law and order, highlighting how the incident had only increased their resolve.
