The country is in good hands, according to President Muhammadu Buhari, whose successor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will take office on May 29.

The Nigerian president made this statement on Thursday at the State House Conference Center in Abuja as part of the schedule of events for the Presidential Inauguration.

President Buhari said he has run a good race over the past eight years after presenting the Baton of Service and transition paperwork to Tinubu.

The President said that it was time to hand the reins over to his successor and urged Tinubu to remember the immense responsibility that comes with being in a position of leadership.

Earlier, Tinubu and Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima were invested with the national honors of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) and Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), respectively, by President Buhari.

According to Executive Order 14, which requires that the transition council prepare handover notes comprising, among other things, proposed policy direction for the future administration, the transfer of documents must be done in accordance with that order.

According to news sources, Tinubu, who will succeed President Buhari as president of Nigeria, will take the oath of office on Monday, May 29.
