The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, was informed by Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who is running for the Edo North Senatorial District in the All Progressives Congress (APC), that the APC does not have an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp to help troubled politicians.

The statement was made by Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State, in response to a claim made by the current governor, Godwin Obaseki, that Shaibu’s legal battle against him served as a catalyst for his switch to the APC.

According to PM News, Oshiomhole insisted that he wanted Edo to be managed in peace and unity and advised the deputy governor to show loyalty to and respect for his superior.

“But let me say this, to say that somebody wants to run to the APC, I want to say that the APC is not a rehabilitation centre. I can tell you that for free.

“We in APC are satisfied the way we are; we are happy in opposition and we are not about to receive people who are coming because they have lost out. I want to say that there is no IDP camp in APC.

“So my advice is that those who are having challenges should learn how to respect their bosses. I have always advised people that whoever you work with, be loyal,” Oshiomhole was quoted as saying.

Oshiomhole made his remark after Shaibu had gone to a Federal High Court in Abuja to ask for protection from Obaseki’s potential impeachment and removal from office.

To stop harassment, intimidation, or embarrassment and to enable him to do his obligations as the deputy governor, he asked for an interlocutory injunction.

There are rumours that Shaibu and his principal, Obaseki, have had a strained relationship lately.
