Bus Conductor Bags 1 Month Imprisonment For Stealing Engine Oil

Musa Abdul, a 42-year-old bus conductor, was given a one-month prison term by a Jos Magistrates’ Court on Friday for stealing motor oil from a store.

Abdul was given a summary sentence by magistrate Shawomi Bokkos after entering a guilty plea.

However, Bokkos offered the offender the chance to pay a fine of N10,000.
The magistrate claimed that the punishment would dissuade others from committing a similar offense.

Earlier, Samson Obodo, the complainant, reported the crime to police on July 15 at the Laranto Police Station, according to Insp. Ibrahim Gokwat, the prosecution’s attorney.

Gokwat said the convict was caught carrying cartons of engine oil away from the shop.
The offence, he said, was punishable under the provisions of the Plateau state Penal Code Law.
