President of Colombian Football Club Tigres FC Shot Dead Following Home Defeat

In a tragic turn of events, the president of Colombian second division club Tigres FC, Edgar Paez, was shot dead on Saturday, September 23, just after his team’s home defeat. This shocking incident took place as Paez was driving home with his daughter after Tigres FC lost 3-2 to Atletico FC.

Reports suggest that two assailants on a motorbike approached Paez near the stadium and opened fire, resulting in his untimely death. Fortunately, his daughter escaped unharmed during this horrific incident. Local authorities have initiated an investigation to apprehend those responsible for the murder.

Tigres FC expressed their deep sorrow over the loss of their president and stated, “The Tigres family and the sporting community are devastated by this event. His commitment to the team and his dedication to the development of the sport in our region left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.”

In response to this shocking incident, the Colombian football association announced that there would be a minute’s silence for Paez observed in the next two rounds of matches.

Additionally, in 2006, Elson Becerra, a player who had helped Colombia win the 2001 Copa America, was shot in a nightclub in his hometown of Cartagena.
