The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the commencement of its 76th Nigeria Examinations Committee meeting. The committee will discuss and make decisions regarding cases of malpractice and irregularities stemming from the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates.

This development was shared on WAEC’s official Twitter account on Tuesday.

On Monday, WAEC also appointed Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut as the Head of the Nigeria National Office.

In August, WAEC initially released the results of the 2023 WASSCE, but the results of 262,803 candidates were withheld due to instances of examination malpractice. However, the council has assured affected candidates that they will receive information about their results once the NEC meeting concludes its deliberations.

“The 76th Meeting of the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) to consider and decide on the malpractice/irregularity cases arising from the conduct of WASSCE for School Candidates, 2023 begins today,” the post on WAEC’s official Twitter account stated.
