Nigeria mourns the loss of Alhaji Bello Maitama Yusuf, who has left a significant mark on the nation’s political landscape. The former senator, known for his service from 1999 to 2007, passed away in the early hours of Friday in Kano at the age of 76.
Alhaji Hussaini Dalhatu, a close family friend of the late statesman, confirmed his passing. He shared that the funeral prayer for the revered Sardauna Dutse would be held following the Jumu’at prayer at the Emir of Kano’s palace.
Born in Gwaram, Jigawa State in 1947, Bello Maitama Yusuf’s political career was marked by two pivotal roles as the Minister of Interior in 1981 and the Minister of Commerce in 1982.
