Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State, stated that the opposition parties have no chance of winning the upcoming governor’s race in the state and predicted victory for the APC, which is now in power.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, Governor Bello made the claim in a statement that was released by his chief press secretary, Onogwu Muhammad.
Remember that Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa State’s off-season governorship elections were planned for November 11 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
During the APC’s ward sensitization meeting on Friday, Muhammed spoke to party supporters in Ochadamu, Ofu local government area of the state, saying his principal’s accomplishments across the state had cleared the way for the party’s candidate.
The APC members expressed their optimism in gaining a landslide victory and agreed with the governorship aide that the opposition parties have no chance of winning.
Muhammed emphasised that Governor Bello’s government has made significant progress and that this progress is more than enough to give the APC another win for governor. He cited the large party structure, which is the foundation of their electoral strength and spans 3,508 polling places and 239 wards in the state.
He said, “Our party has a stellar track record in Ochadamu ward, and the upcoming election will be no different. Even those who previously stood in opposition to us have now chosen to join our ranks. We are committed to expanding the margin of victory between the APC and the runner-up in the forthcoming election.
“With our strong presence in the 3,508 polling units and 239 wards across the state, the odds are decidedly in our favour. We proudly count three Senators, six out of nine House of Representatives members, and 24 out of 25 House of Assembly members among our ranks. Given the remarkable performance of the current administration, which has endeared our party to the people, it is all but certain that we will secure a resounding victory on November 11. Our campaign will continue in an atmosphere of peace and inclusivity, welcoming all those who wish to join us in our pursuit of victory. Our candidate, Ododo Ahmed Usman, and his running mate, Joel Oyibo Salifu, are exemplary choices, and their appeal is resonating widely.”
Odu Akowe, a former leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the region, spoke about the decision he and others had made to transfer allegiance to the APC in an important demonstration of inter-party cooperation. He expressed certainty that this change would significantly improve the APC’s chances of winning elections.
Akowe pleaded with the populace to band together in favour of Ododo and Joel, highlighting the importance of Joel being from the Ofu local government region as a compelling cause to give the APC a victory by a wide margin.
“We were once on the other side of the aisle, but today, we have wholeheartedly joined your ranks. Together, we will achieve an extraordinary victory on November 11. Ododo and Joel hold special significance for the people of Ofu, and we are unwavering in our commitment to ensuring the party’s triumph,’ Vanguard quoted Akowe saying.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the conference was attended by local party leaders, stakeholders, and fans.
