Kayode Egbetokun has been officially confirmed as the substantive Inspector-General of Police by the Nigeria Police Council (NPC).

During its inaugural meeting on Tuesday, which took place in the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the council affirmed Egebtolun as the head of the Police.

It is acknowledged that this is the first summit of its kind held under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is governed by a constitutional body called the Nigeria Police Council, which is presided over by the President.

The Council is composed of the Inspector-General of Police, the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, the Governor of each state in the Federation, and a few ministries.

The Nigeria Police Council convened for the last time on June 4, 2021, with former President Muhammadu Buhari serving as the meeting’s chairman.
