Heroic Soldiers Prevent Tragedy as Woman’s Suicide Attempt is Thwarted

The Nigerian Army, operating under the 81 Division, played a crucial role in preventing a tragic suicide attempt by a woman named Mrs. Francesca Spark. The incident unfolded as she jumped into the Lagos Lagoon, but the quick actions of the soldiers saved her life.

This remarkable story came to light through a statement released by the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni. The statement detailed the events surrounding the suicide attempt and the army’s timely intervention.

It was reported that Mrs. Francesca Spark had plunged into the lagoon near the 81 Division Officers’ Mess in Marina, Lagos. Fortunately, the troops of the 65 Battalion, deployed at the Officers’ Mess, were on the scene and sprang into action. Leveraging their military riverine skills and quick thinking, they managed to rescue Mrs. Spark from the perilous waters.

The soldiers not only saved her life but also provided her with essential first aid and stabilized her condition. Once she was out of immediate danger, they contacted her family and subsequently handed her over to her husband, Mr. Spark Oghene Ovie, who resides in Awoyaya, Lagos.
