Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship candidate in Imo State, has accused electoral malpractices in Saturday’s election.

Speaking about allegations from party agents in the field, Anyanwu said that ballot box snatching, vote buying, and other irregularities occurred in several polling units.

He made the remark in a chat with media at his Amaimo home in Imo’s Ikeduru Local Government Area (LGA).

Anyanwu also demanded that the election results be annulled in communities purportedly devastated by thuggery and violence.

He also requested INEC to “brighten its spotlight on Ikeduru LGA.”

Anyanwu said: “I have evidence that one of the thugs is a member of the House of Assembly.

“In the process of snatching the ballot boxes, the lawmaker’s Identity Card fell off and I have it here with me.

“I call on INEC to consider the available evidence and cancel results of elections in the affected areas.“
