The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) made a groundbreaking announcement on Monday, revealing a significant shift in its examination methodology. The traditional paper and pencil test model is now making way for the Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode in the conduct of the Senior School Certificate Examination.

The news, conveyed in a statement signed by Moyosola Adesina, the acting head of the Public Affairs Unit of WAEC, outlined that this transformative move would commence with the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for private candidates scheduled for February 2024.

In an effort to align with global best practices, WAEC’s Nigeria National Office is ushering in this change, signaling a departure from the conventional Paper and Pencil Test to the more technologically advanced Computer-Based Examination.

This strategic evolution reflects WAEC’s commitment to staying at the forefront of educational assessment methods and embracing modern technologies for a more streamlined and efficient examination process. Stay tuned for further details as WAEC continues to revolutionize the examination landscape.
