Justice Dele Peters of the National Industrial Court, Ibadan Division, has issued an interim injunction restraining Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke from removing the State Chief Judge, Oyebola Ojo. The court order follows an application filed by Justice Ojo seeking protection against interference with her position.

In the injunction, the court directed Governor Adeleke and other defendants to refrain from interfering with, removing, reversing, or terminating the appointment and conditions of service of Justice Ojo as the Chief Judge of Osun State. The order also mandates the state government to continue paying the salary, entitlements, emoluments, and other benefits due to Justice Ojo pending the determination of the case.

The court, considering Justice Ojo’s gender roles as a wife, mother, and grandmother, instructed the Governor to ensure adequate protection against harassment. Additionally, the Chief Law Officer of Osun State is advised to guide the defendants on the importance of complying with the court’s orders.

The matter is adjourned till December 12, 2023, for the hearing of the pending motion, with a directive for the hearing notice to be served on the defendants. The case underscores the ongoing legal challenges surrounding the tenure and conditions of service for judicial officers in Osun State.
