PDP Releases Timetable for Edo State Governorship Election Activities

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has unveiled its schedule of activities in preparation for the Edo State governorship election. The timetable was released after a joint meeting of the Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee at the party’s headquarters in Abuja. The National Working Committee, in a statement signed by the National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, outlined key dates leading up to the election.

According to the timetable, the PDP’s congress to select its gubernatorial candidate is scheduled for February 22, 2024. Aspiring candidates can obtain the nomination form for N21 million, with a notable 50 percent discount offered to youths aged between 25 and 30.

The outlined activities include the registration of old and new members, set to take place from November 16 to December 7. The submission of ward registers to the Directorate of Organisation and Mobilisation is slated for December 14, while a stakeholders’ consultative meeting with the National Working Group will occur between December 19 and 20.

Sales of expression of interest and ad-hoc forms for all offices are scheduled for January 10-16, with the deadline for submission set for January 17. The screening of governorship aspirants by the National Working Committee is planned for January 18, 2024.

Aspirants who have completed and submitted their expression of interest forms can purchase nomination forms between January 19 and 25, with the submission deadline on January 27. The governorship primary is set for February 22, followed by the appeal on the governorship primary on February 24.
