Rivers Sate: Amid PDP Crisis, Wike Appoints 14,000 Adviser

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has chosen 14,000 advisers for the state’s numerous political organizations.

The governor stated that the advisers will play important roles in his government in a statement released on Tuesday and signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Kelvin Ebiri.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Wike also appointed 319 ward liaison officers and 40 local government area liaison officers in addition to the 14,000 advisers.

He stated that the appointments are effective right away, despite the fact that these people’s identities have not yet been made public.

Anaedoonline.ng claimed that Wike signed an executive order prohibiting political parties from accessing public schools without the state’s permission 21 or so days ago.

The governor stated that two weeks prior to the campaign, the notification for usage must be submitted.

He made the announcement as he signed a resolution that the State Assembly had voted to stop recognizing Celestine Omehia as the previous governor of Rivers State.

In case rally participants damage school facilities, he further disclosed that anyone interested in accessing the facility would need to pay an amount of five million naira as a caution charge.

In addition, he warned political parties that any type of disturbance would not be accepted in the state and stressed how important it was for them to keep the calm throughout the election.

Wike emphasized that if permission is not requested, the local council chairman has the authority to put an end to any rally.

However, the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party vowed to punish any head of school who colludes with political parties to hold rallies without getting permission from the state legislature.

In advance of the 2023 elections, he reaffirmed his opposition to criminals and cults using hotels and other public places as gathering places.

In addition, Wike asked election candidates to follow the law’s requirements for commitment, peace, and responsibility in their behaviour.
