In the build-up to the race for the seat of the Nnewi North at the Anambra state house of assembly in the forthcoming 2019 elections, a frontline aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mazi Tobe Osigwe has withdrawn from the race.
Mazi Tobe Osigwe who made this known in a release signed titled ‘WHY I AM NO LONGER INVOLVED’ on his Facebook page, cited several reasons for his decision.
WHY I AM NO LONGER INVOLVED
It is with deepest regret that I announce my withdrawal from the race of contesting the Anambra State House of Assembly election representing my constituency, Nnewi North. This hard decision was taken after factoring some irreversible realities. I know this might come as a shock to so many of my teeming supporters and party faithfuls who believe and look forward to the manifestation of my political ideology : educational revolution. However, it is necessary I take this bold step to ensure future victories.
I would like to state unequivocally that presently, as far as the Fourth Republic exist there is no room for any sane man to remain in the political arena without compromising on eternal principles. Perhaps, a Fifth Republic will pave the way to correct certain grave political errors which have solidified into our political culture. If there is no Fifth Republic for us to start on a clean slate then we are of all men most miserable. But the good news is that there is light at the end of the tunnel, therefore, it becomes wise I save my strength for this new dawn.
Please I will like to use this medium to implore all, especially close friends, associates, family and party loyalists to give me a breather. In the fullness of time I will call or come to your respective houses to explain better why this route is the most reasonable step to chart in achieving a better future.
Finally, I want to thank all true patriots for their understanding as I reassure them that this is not an end but a beginning. This is the beginning of the NEW ERA.
Mazi Tobe Osigwe.
Awka, Anambra State.
The Obi of Nnewichi, Obi George Onyekaba Obidiugwu has berated the Chairman of Nzuko-Orah Nnewi, Sir Ugochukwu Udemezue Ifeneti for causing disharmony among the four quarters of Nnewi. He said he feels bad at Ifeneti’s effort geared towards scattering the zoning agreement that has brought peace and calmness to Nnewi polity.
Obidiugwu had previously , before the commencement of the summit, told anaedoonline.ng that Nnewichi would not be part of Afiaolu festival of 2018 as a way of protesting against the confusion being foisted by Nzuko-Orah Nnewi in Nnewi’s polity by its insistence that the present State House member, Hon Amala Anazodo would go back for a second term.
There has been a zoning controversy on the rotation formula in Nnewi where rotation exists among the four quarters of Nnewi. The zoning arrangement allows the Nnewi seat at the Anambra State House of Assembly to be rotated among the four quarters of Nnewi.
The present Nzuko-Orah Nnewi led by Sir Ugochukwu Udemezue Ifeneti has amended this zoning procedure to give room for a two-term tenure thereby giving way for the incumbent Nnewi Rep member to contest for a second tenure, however, it appears that this amendment does not have the blessing of Nnewichi and has caused great divisions within Nnewi polity.
The Igwe of Nnewi, Igwe KON Orizu CON consequently intervened and called for a meeting at his palace to hear from the people of Nnewi on how best to resolve the political imbroglio in Nnewi. At the end of the meeting, it was unanimously agreed by all and sundry that Nnewichi should go ahead and present a candidate for the State House of Assembly. The Nzuko-Orah Nnewi who are of the opinion that they are the administrative head of Nnewi insisted that its amendment is sacrosanct, by implication this means that their decision supersedes that of the Igwe of Nnewi and Nnewi Stakeholders in general as they lack the constitutional authority to decide on such sensitive issue on behalf of the Nnewi populace.
In a bid to resolve this crisis, a group of Nnewi Professionals convened the maiden Nnewi Political summit to bring peace and harmony to Nnewi polity and Nnewi Populace in general.
In a bid to resolve this crisis, a group of Nnewi Professionals convened the first Nnewi Political summit to discuss the Nnewi polity towards a more united Nnewi activities and peace of the community. In attendance were; the Governor of Anambra state Gov. Willie Obiano, ably represented by Hon. Ofili Nwosu (Ebube-Dike); The First Female Governor of Anambra State, Dame Virgy Etiaba; The Obi of Nnewichi, Obi George Onyekaba (Obidiugwu; Hon Afam Mbanefo, Hon Commissioner for Agriculture; Hon Sir Melie Onyejepu, SSA on Budget Monitoring and Implementation; Dr. Obi Nwosu; Prof. Kingsley Muoghalu the YPP Presidential aspirant; Chief Dr Ifeanyi Uba; Chief Ajulu Uzodike; Sir Emeka Nzewi, all major political Nnewi aspirants for Senate, House of Reps, State House of Assemblies, and a host of major Nnewi Stakeholders and Professionals.
After long deliberations by the largest gathering of Nnewi people in a major political summit, communiqué adopted among other decisions that were arrived at, which went as follows;
The present zoning formula of one term rotation among the four Nnewi communities as established by the Nzuko-Ora Nnewi and Nnewi Stake-holders should be sustained.

It is the turn of Nnewichi to contest and be elected into the State House of Assembly ,therefore the new zoning formula being championed by a faction of the Present Nzuko-Ora executives which has been abolished by the Traditional Ruler of Nnewi, The Four Obis of Nnewi and the President Generals of the four communities in Nnewi is null and void.
United States president, Donald Trump, allegedly described Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari as ‘lifeless’ after a meeting between the two leaders on April 30, 2018.
On a working trip to the United States, President Buhari met with President Trump in the White House and they had a joint press conference after a closed-door meeting in the Oval office.
Even though Trump commended Buhari for fighting corruption and terrorism in Nigeria, the US president is now reported to have not enjoyed the meeting.
According to a report by Financial Times, sources revealed that Trump informed aides after his meeting with Buhari that he never wanted to meet someone so lifeless again.
This revelation comes ahead of Trump’s meeting with Kenya’s Uhuru Kenyatta who advocates hope will have a better meeting with Trump to establish better US-Africa ties.
Trump has long been suspected to not have any concrete African policy and disparaged the continent in January when he described African countries as “shithole”.
During the April meeting, President Buhari was asked if he questioned Trump on that comment, but he said he didn’t because Trump had already stronngly denied it.
Buhari’s medical problems
It’s unclear why Trump would have allegedly described Buhari as ‘lifeless’ behind closed doors, but the 75-year-old president has a well-documented history of ill health over the past one year.
He was away in London for a combined 154 days treating an undisclosed ailment on two separate visits. In fact, when he left the US after meeting Trump, he was ‘missing’ for two days before his aides reported that he was in London for a ‘technical stopover’.
A few days later, it was disclosed that the president saw his doctor during the stopover and had been asked to return to London for another four-day medical trip.
The president only recently just returned from London after he went away for a 10-day vacation during which time vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, was Acting President.
