Aisha Yesufu, a political activist from Nigeria, has pushed the Department of State Services (DSS) to concentrate its efforts on obtaining information concerning terrorists, kidnappers, and unidentified gunmen.
The DSS claimed to have identified the organisers and financiers of the planned national demonstration against economic hardship and poor governance, to which this call to action was issued in response.
DSS spokesman Peter Afunanya characterised the protest’s purpose as political in a statement on Thursday.
He advised the protest organisers not to move through with the scheduled demonstrations.

The statement claimed that the DSS had discovered a plan by some criminal elements to take advantage of the protest and cause disturbance around the nation.
On Friday, though, Yesufu responded with a post on her X handle, claiming that the nation’s hunger is largely a result of the DSS’s inability to obtain information on terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and unidentified shooters.
She said: “DSS should counsel itself on its failure to gather intelligence on the terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and unknown gunmen that have terrorized the nation and forced farmers to flee their farms which has greatly contributed to the hunger in the land.”
