Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate from the 2023 election, has stated he has no intentions of joining forces with other politicians to form a mega party aimed at unseating the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking to journalists on Saturday, June 29, in Onitsha, Anambra state, Obi emphasized the need to prioritize poverty reduction over political maneuvers.
“Our focus should be on how to lift people out of poverty, not on forming a mega party,” Obi remarked. “If a mega party is created to address these critical issues, then I support it. But if it’s merely for politicians to gain power and perpetuate the current cycle of consumption, I will oppose it. However, if the goal is to shift the country towards production and economic growth, then I am in favor.
