The Federal Government has identified over 1,500 public servants who presented false letters of employment.
The admission was made by Folashade Yemi-Esan, the Federation’s Head of Civil Service, during an event hosted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in Abuja on Tuesday.
The Federal Government, according to Yemi-Esan, has stopped the salaries of 3,000 federal officials who failed to appear for verification.

The purpose of the verification effort, according to the civil service chief, is to eliminate false and unlawful recruiting in government entities.
“This office told the ICPC somewhere in March of 2021 that there were quite a number of phony letters of appointment circulating among the ministries,” she claimed.
“At that particular time, we discovered that in just one ministry alone, there were over a thousand individuals bearing fake letters of appointments. And they were already enrolled on the payroll.
“The Office of the Head of Service received another report, this time from the Federal Civil Service Commission itself, forwarding names of over 500 persons in various MDAs that possess fake letters of appointments.”
