Kylian Mbappe was officially introduced as a Real Madrid player on Tuesday. The French striker, after completing his medical earlier in the day, signed a five-year contract with the club and received the No. 9 jersey from club president Florentino Perez.
“Wow,” Mbappe exclaimed in Spanish to the thousands of fans gathered at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. The 25-year-old former Paris Saint-Germain player expressed his joy, saying, “For years I’ve dreamed of playing for Real Madrid and today my dream has come true. I’m a happy boy. I’m going to give my life for this club.”
Despite his new teammates starting training on Monday, Mbappe, who captained France during the Euros, will have a few additional days off before beginning his season in Madrid.
