A former minister of education and convener of the Red Card Movement of Nigeria, Dr Oby Ezekwesili has warned the federal government of the insincerity of the Chinese in granting loans to developing nations.
Dr Ezekwesili who made this known in a series of tweets on her twitter handle, said “Chinese attitude to Indebtedness is the HARDEST in the world. I know, because one had to deal with it in the course of my work @ the World Bank, helping African countries to get the HIPC Debt Cancellation.
It ANNOYS ME TO NO END to see our countries BINGING on Chinese Loans.”
Dr Ezekwesili who further berated Nigerian leaders for excessively relying on loans without thinking of how the debts that come from them can be sustained, called for the avoidance of risky debts.
