SENATOR SHEHU FAULTS PROPOSED 90% SALE OF NNPC BY ATIKU

Senator Shehu Sani representing Kaduna South Senatorial Zone has faulted the idea of “selling off” 90% of NNPC as proposed by the PDP Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in his campaign.

Atiku Abubakar said he would sell off 90% of NNPC to the public to make it more efficient and result oriented; but Senator Sani Shehu, who took to his Facebook page, suggested that selling 90% of the NNPC as a campaign promise “is being brutally frank and honest. But a condemnable proposal and a dangerous intention.”

He said that “auctioning the country has not helped in the past and will not help in the future.”

However, another citizen, Gbenga Giwa, suggested that if in the context “selling” means taking NNPC public and listing it on the stock exchange market, it’s a welcome development; but if it’s a “selling” to friends and associates or even to a proxy, then, it’s a dick move.
