Nnewi: MOTHER ABANDONS 7-MONTHS BABY BOY IN CHURCH
A 7-months-old baby, whose identity is not yet known was picked inside the church at St. Martin De Pores Catholic Parish, Umudim, Nnewi on Monday.
Anaedooline reports that the priest in charge of the church, Rev. Fr. Christopher Ezimo, picked the “seven months old sick baby boy” at about 5 pm the fateful day; but could not ascertain who brought the baby, how and when it was brought into the church.
It was further gathered that the Catholic priest later took the baby to the juvenile and welfare unit of the Central Police Station, Nnewi; who after visiting the scene of the incident, rushed the sick baby to the
Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, where he is presently receiving treatment.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the development when contacted. He said that the case is presently under investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident; while an effort is ongoing to trace the biological mother of the baby.
He implored the general public to assist the police with useful information that could help trace the parent of the child with police emergency number 07039194332.
