IGWE ORIZU III OF NNEWI MARKS 55TH OFALA FESTIVAL AMIDST FANFARE
It was a display of culture and beauty at the 2018 Ofala Outing of Igwe Kenneth Orizu III of Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The Ofala festival took place on Friday, 28th December 2018, at the palace of the traditional ruler in Nnewi.
Igwe Orizu III is the longest-serving monarch in Africa, the 20th Obi of Nnewi and also the paramount ruler of the industrial community.
The event kicked off with a Church service held at the Igwe’s palace.
The Church service was presided over by His Grace, Rt. Rev. Prof. G.I.N Okpala (OON) Archbishop of the Province of the Niger; and Bishop of Nnewi Dioceses.
The event was graced by Peter Obi, Vice Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party; Hon. Chris Azubuogu, representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency; Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi; Igwe of Ojoto, Obi of Asaba, Dr. Obinna Ngonadi, Ben Chuks Nwosu, Nonso Smart Okafor, Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma (OFR) and his brother, Chief Gabriel Chukwuma; Her Excellency Dame Virgy Etiaba, among many others.
Ebonyi State dance troupe thrilled the audience in grandeur and style.
Some dignitaries were given chieftaincy titles at the event, including Gov. Umahi of Ebonyi State, who was honoured as “Ezinwanne Nnewi”, while his wife, Deaconess Ogochukwu Umahi, was honoured as “Oji Ugo Nnewi”.
