HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY CANDIDATE IN ONITSHA ESCAPES DEATH BY WHISKERS

Barely one week to the March 9 governorship and House of
Assembly elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of
Assembly candidate for Onitsha 1 State Constituency, Afam Emejulu, survived attack by suspected political thugs believed to
be political opponents of the APC candidate.

Family source told our reporter that Emejulu, who is a legal practitioner, was going out from his house in the early hours
unknown to him that armed thugs laid ambush against him.

It was gathered that the hoodlums accosted him, with one of them hitting him with a weapon, while others
pounced on him, and beat him to stupor.

The source said that one of his boys, who rushed to rescue him from the merciless thugs had his three
toes chopped off with machete.

The elder brother of the victim, Raphael Emejulu, who also confirmed the incident said he was away when he received the information that his brother was attacked.

“I went to the scene in company of police; and, upon arrival, my brother was already lying very weak on the ground with blood gushing out of his nose and mouth.

“While we approached, the hoodlums took to their heels. Two of them were arrested by the police while others escaped”, he said; adding that the matter has been reported to the Central
Police Station, CPS, Onitsha; while those injured during the fracas were taken to the General Hospital, Onitsha, for treatment.

The Divisional
Police Officer (DPO) CPS, Onitsha, Ifeanyi Iburu, would not confirm the development as “he literally worked out journalists, who came to his office for confirmation.”
