Speaking, she said, “From the look of things, it is disappointing to see these patients live in this kind of environment, here is more like a desolate place, the buildings here are in a sorry state, the environment is not conducive, I appeal to the government and individuals to come and help in putting the structures here in proper shape”

On the stigmatization being suffered by leprosy patients, Ejike Favour condemned the act, calling for proper reorientation of the populace.

In her words, she said, “It is unfortunate our people are ignorant of the fact that leprosy is a curable disease, leprosy patients in this part of the world suffer the worst stigmatization and gross implication of this is that, these patients when cured find it extremely difficult to be reintegrated into the society”

Calling for proper reorientation of the populace, she urged the National Orientation Agency both in the Federal and State level, and also Non-government organization (NGO), to kick-start campaign against discrimination of leprosy patients, which will help these patients to return back to their normal lives.
